Directions for use on wood, synthetic, resilient tile and concrete floors
Court Line Tape Machine Straight Line Taping
1. Install tape guides on guide bracket depending on the tape width to be used.
2. Loosen adjusting screws in guides to move guides to per line width. Inner edge of tape to center of tape machine should be be half the width of the of court line. Always test adjustment by applying some tape to floor and measuring to see if line width is correct. Transfer pointer extension from back of taper to front of machine and install line guide to extension. Line guide and tape guides are stored in the right side tape spindle.
3. After establishing center of line, use a weight on each end place small nails in floor at each end and tightly stretch colored string line or chalk line. If chalk line is use, make sure chalk is removed before painting. Start several inches back of where court begins.
4. Place tape on spindles and pull 6 inches of tape down and place under front wheels making sure tape has stuck to floor and double check for correct width, between tape.
5. Press down on tape machine and proceed at slow and steady pace. Go past the end of the court by a few inches and cut tape. Always before star the next line be sure there is enough tape to complete the line.
Court Line Tape Machine Circle Making
1. Install extension circle rods to flex joint on left front wheel and place center pivot on the other end of circle rods.
2. After marking center circle, place center pivot on this spot and adjust to correct distance and tighten thumb screw. If help is available, or when doing synthetic floors, one person can hold pivot in place while another person operates the machine or, on wooden floors, pivot can be fastened to the floor with a nail so that one person can install circles. On smaller circles it may be necessary to operate taper with rear wheels slightly off the floor.
3. Circles are best taped using 3/4" or 1" wide tape. When installing very large circles, wider tapes can be used. Tapes designated as fast back tapes can not be use for circle making.
Retaping Old Lines
1. Line guide is also helpful in re-taping old lines. One end will follow 1" lines and the other end 2" lines.
Plastic Marking Tape
1. One and two inch wide temporary line plastic tape can also be applied with the Court-Line Tape Machine for straight lines or circles. On straight lines it will be necessary to offset guide line to one side of the intended court line. Usually one 2" line is applied and either spindle can be used for his purpose.
2. Before Painting: Be sure edges of tape are still firmly sticking to floor so as to prevent any paint from bleeding under the tape. Because taping can take serval hours to complete and becasue some tape may release, it is recommended that the installed tape be rolled over a second time, especially in circle areas.
3. Remove tape as soon as paint has had time to set. Thirty (30) minutes is usually a good benchmark.
